Gift in Will - GOAL Global Skip to content

Your last gift will mean we’re always first there.

Leave a gift in your Will to GOAL, and make your kindness live on forever.

For over 45 years, our supporters have been the driving force behind our work, and a beacon of light and hope, to the poorest and most vulnerable people in the world.

Thanks to compassionate and kind people like you, GOAL earned its reputation for being ‘first in, and last out’ when a humanitarian crisis unfolds.

This means we hit the ground running, ready to roll up our sleeves and do what’s needed. And it means we don’t leave until the job’s done – when families and communities are able to look after themselves.

We believe our supporters share many of the qualities of our founder, John O’Shea – passion, determination, and the desire to help those in need.

With a gift in your Will to GOAL, you'll ensure your values and beliefs live on and continue to do good.

Looking back

In 1977, Dublin sports journalist, John O’Shea travelled to Kolkata (Calcutta) in India, where he witnessed children starving and begging on the streets.

GOAL was born out of John’s desire and determination to help people living in the poorest communities in the world.

When famine hit Northern Uganda in 1979, we were on the ground, handing out food and providing medical care to sick and hungry families. And GOAL was one of the first humanitarian aid organisations to enter Cambodia after genocide claimed more than two million lives.

Moving forward

Over 45 years later, through the kindness, generosity, sheer grit, and determination of our GOAL community, we continue to be the first on the scene when disaster strikes.

As a GOALie, you help us turn innocent people hit by crisis into survivors.

You help us transform struggling families into strong and resilient communities, equipped with the tools and resources they need to look after themselves and to thrive.

Through gifts in Wills left by our supporters, we will continue to be first to respond in a crisis, whenever and wherever we’re needed.

What we do

GOAL Strategy 2025
Emergency Response
Resilient Health
Food & Nutrition Security
Sustainable, Resilient, Inclusive World

From Crisis to Resilience

Humanitarian crises are increasing in number, magnitude, and complexity across the globe. The international community is increasingly recognising that more must be done to move vulnerable populations exposed to disaster hazards beyond humanitarian crisis and to achieve greater resilience. Key to this is strengthening local capacities by stabilising and supporting local systems and populations to move from crisis to survival and onto greater resilience.

GOAL Strategy 2025

Conflict, instability and climate change have created unprecedented levels of need.

GOAL's Emergency Response programme takes an integrated approach, with its work focused on saving lives, alleviating human suffering and building resilience for the future.

Goal 1: Emergency Response

Long-term health inequalities need urgent commitment and intervention.

From emergency assistance to sustainable development. Resilient Health works on two fronts - meeting the challenge of chronic health emergencies as well as taking a systems-based approach to help communities build a healthier future.

Goal 2: Resilient Health

Even today, 800 million people across the world do not have the food they need.

Food poverty is increasing, with the situation fuelled by rapid population growth, increased conflict, displacement and climate change. GOAL is focused on innovative and sustainable ways to achieve food and nutrition security for the most vulnerable.

Goal 3: Food & Nutrition Security

The world is increasingly connected. Action is no longer limited by traditional boundaries or borders.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for us all; addressing poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice.

GOAL links its Global Citizenship programme with the SDGs and is helping people by fostering global citizenship, GOAL is helping people understand that how we live and act can, and does, make a difference.

Goal 4: Sustainable, Resilient and Inclusive World
