Hundreds of farmers in attendance at Listowel Mart made donations, which totalled over €2,000 towards GOAL’s Ukraine Emergency appeal.
Speaking about the fundraising event, Jimmy Deenihan, Former Fine Gael Minister, Kerry football legend, five-time All-Ireland winner and GOAL Board Member said “Kerry is renowned the world over for its beautiful scenery, lakes, sandy beaches, cliffs and rocky headland and of course its rich terrain for farming. I had the great pleasure of attending the Listowel Livestock Mart this week and meeting some of farmers who farm our land in this county.”
“As I have witnessed many times over the years, the farmers who attended the Mart, which is always a lively and sociable event, were as generous as ever in donating to this GOAL appeal. So, on behalf of GOAL, I would like to send my sincere thanks to the farmers and especially to Jerry Gallivan and Barney O’Connell from the Mart who approached us about running this fundraiser.”
Also speaking at this fundraising event, Eamon Sharkey, Director, Fundraising, Marketing & Communications, GOAL said “I was delighted to meet Kerry farmers this week. They echo the voices of the Irish population and condemn the entirely unjust invasion of Ukraine and showed their kind support for the GOAL Ukraine Emergency Appeal. I would also like to thank those Kerry farmers who donated this week.”
