Dublin, Ireland, GOAL NextGen is delighted to announce Stories for Humanity, an intimate storytelling event celebrating the universal power of human connection. This event reflects GOAL NextGen’s mission to inspire global citizenship, social justice, and sustainability among young people. Taking place on Wednesday, 26th November from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at Hen’s Teeth, Dublin 8. The evening promises to bring together voices from around the world to share personal stories that unite, inspire, and remind us of our shared humanity.

Hosted by Leon Diopp from Black & Irish, Stories for Humanity offers a platform for diverse voices to share a short, personal story that reflects moments of empathy, connection, and human insight. Stories will be moving, funny, reflective, or surprising – the only rule is that they are honest and personal.

“Stories have the power to cross borders and connect us in ways that statistics and headlines cannot,” says Leon Diopp. “This evening is about celebrating those moments of shared humanity that remind us how connected we all are.”

Victoria Walshe, Global Citizenship Programme Manager at GOAL had this to say: “GOAL NextGen empowers young changemakers to use empathy and storytelling as tools for impact. Stories for Humanity is about creating space for honest voices, from Dublin to Uganda to Honduras, to share the stories that connect us and inspire action for a better world.”

The event will also give attendees a glimpse into the game that inspired the event, Cards for Humanity & Goal NextGen’s next project, Letters to the Future.

  • Cards for Humanity is a storytelling game designed to spark meaningful conversation. Whether on a couch, at a dinner party, or during a community event, Cards for Humanity makes it easy to open up, connect, and share. The game is free to download at goalglobal.org/xchange/cards-for-humanity. GOAL encourages community groups, activists, families, and friends to play the game and host their own moments of connection.
  • Letters to the Future is a project created by young people around the globe, led by GOAL NextGen. Letters to the Future platforms young people’s messages of hope, wisdom, and guidance for the generations that will follow. Members of the GOAL NextGen youth programme have written thoughtful letters addressing the challenges and opportunities future citizens may face. These letters will be shared with the Future Generations Commissioner in each writer’s country, or securely held by GOAL until such a commissioner is appointed, ensuring that young voices today help shape the world of tomorrow.

Stories for Humanity will welcome three remarkable young changemakers from the GOAL NextGen youth programme:

  • Abenezer Mitiku (Ethiopia): An advocate for innovation that drives environmental sustainability and societal transformation. His work bridges technology and social impact, empowering young people through accessible STEM learning and creative problem solving.

  • Alejandra Martinez (Honduras): A graphic designer who believes design has the power to raise awareness, spark change, and connect people across cultures and causes, Alejandra uses visual communication to amplify the voices of vulnerable communities and support organisations working towards a more equitable world.

  • Jovia Kisaakye (Uganda): A social entrepreneur and the Founder & CEO of Ecobed Biotech Brand, an award-winning climate-smart enterprise transforming food waste into mosquito repellent lotion, organic fertilisers, and animal feeds. Jovia’s work tackles malaria, food insecurity, and environmental degradation.

They’ll each share stories on the night alongside two of the creators of Cards for Humanity, and one of the GOAL Ireland team:

  • Melanie Lynch, founder of Our Story and HerStory, champions powerful female narratives through art, activism, and education.

  • Max Zanga, an artist best known for his work as part of the acclaimed Irish hip hop duo Tebi Rex, recognised for their fearless, boundary-pushing creativity.

  • Benjamin Bockarie, a programme coordinator with GOAL who’s passionate about sustainability and climate impact. He works in ocean sustainability and food security, using storytelling to connect research, policy, and community voices for real climate impact.

Why It Matters:
Stories for Humanity is part of GOAL Next Gen’s mission to inspire young changemakers through empathy and global connection. By sharing and listening to personal stories, participants help spark meaningful conversations and build bridges between people who might never have met otherwise.
