GOAL has been announced as winner of the Collaboration Category in this year’s Dochas Awards for its partnership with the Dropbox Foundation.

The Collaboration Award is a new category in the annual awards, recognising an organisation that has demonstrated the importance of building effective relationships and working in collaboration with diverse actors. Allowing GOAL to be agile and innovative, the collaboration celebrates the coming together of two diverse sectors to achieve change for people in need.

According to Eamon Sharkey, Fundraising Director of GOAL, the partnership has crossed the boundaries of traditional collaboration over the last two years:

“This was illustrated at Bloom where GOAL invited Dropbox to engage with the public to speak up about what we jointly believe in – human rights and, in this instance, the need to address the global issue of migration. Dropbox also sponsored GOAL at the Laya City Spectaculars in Dublin and Cork, where GOAL engaged the public around Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). “

“Dropbox personnel have visited GOAL programmes in Ethiopia, they can tell our story and us theirs. Our work together delivers impactful results both in our operations and in the field. Together we have far greater reach.”

Another key collaborative success is skills-based volunteering projects where talented Dropboxers offer GOAL  guidance on crucial areas of operations like IT security, Digital Asset Management, HR, Marketing etc.

Reflecting on GOAL’s Collaboration Award win, Dropbox’s Head of EMEA and Vice President of Global Customer Experience, Adrienne Gormley states ‘I am so thrilled to see the team win this award. GOAL drives huge and meaningful impact across so many of the world’s challenging environments and the Dropbox Foundation is proud to support its life-changing and indeed life-saving efforts.”

GOAL was also shortlisted in the Dochas Awards Public Engagement Category for its #StandWithSyria campaign in March of this year.
