It was with deep sadness that GOAL management, staff and partners learnt of the death of Esmie Tembenu, a member of its Malawi Advisory Committee, on December 10, in the Republic of South Africa.
On behalf of the entire organisation, we wish to offer our utmost condolences to the family, friends, and fellow board members on the passing of Former Child Justice Court Magistrate Esmie Tembenu.
Esmie Tembenu played a significant role in guiding and advising GOAL Malawi with an emphasis on governance and transparency and by supporting our efforts to implement programmes that improve the lives of the communities we work with in Malawi.
Additionally, we would like to acknowledge the many contributions of Esmie Tembenu towards the development of Malawi through her dedicated involvement across numerous initiatives. Her contributions in country and beyond, leave behind a legacy of dedication towards the protection of human rights, the elderly, and children. GOAL in Malawi and globally share the feeling of great loss at this moment of deep sorrow. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and all who remember her.
