The story of Syrian Refugees in Turkey

Join us on Thursday June 17

Join us on Thursday 17th June to mark World Refugee Day and the launch of 'Home from Home'.

The event will help shine a light on the lives of refugees in Turkey with the premiere of a moving, thought-provoking documentary and photo exhibition. We will also be joined by leading experts to discuss the plight of Syrian refugees in Turkey. Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland, will be in attendance to deliver a keynote address.

When: Thursday 17 June from 10am (Dublin) | 11am (Brussels) | 12pm (Ankara)
Where: From the comfort of your own home. Join anywhere in the world via your mobile, tablet, computer or device.

Turkey is the world’s biggest refugee host nation, with 3.6 million Syrians officially residing in the country. Many have never set foot in their homeland. 500,000 Syrian children have been born in Turkey since the start of the Syrian conflict ten years ago.

The event will include an informed discussion with leading experts to promote diverse perspectives on migrants in Turkey. We will take a look at the world from their perspective, and discuss how governments, the international community, and NGOs can continue to support millions of Syrian refugees.

The documentary and photo exhibition will give a unique insight into the lives of nomadic and semi nomadic refugees and those engaged in seasonal agricultural labour in Turkey. These refugees are supported by GOAL under the EU Humanitarian Aid ‘Facilitating Marginalized and Vulnerable Populations Access to Services (LINK II) Programme.’
