GOAL has responded to the world’s major humanitarian crises since its founding in 1977, working with vulnerable communities in 14 countries across the globe with a dedicated team of personnel. While GOAL continues to be an agile first-responder to humanitarian crises, it is also committed to working with vulnerable communities to help them survive crises and support them on the road to recovery.
GOAL has been working in Syria since 2013, both in Idleb and North Aleppo, through direct implementation and through partners, delivering food, non-food programming to highly vulnerable populations, and provision of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) through Water units, as well as emergency support to recently displaced households.
About the role
As Senior Grants Coordinator, you will work closely with the Programme Development and Awards Director to ensure effective new business development, donor engagement, and grant compliance. You’ll also contribute to strategic planning and capacity building across the programme whilst working collaboratively with GOAL Syria’s SMT; Programmes, MEAL, Finance, and Systems teams. The role will be based in either Aleppo or Damascus with travel to GOAL offices in NW Syria and Damascus
Key Responsibilities
Programme Design & Business Development
- Lead the development of concept notes and proposals, ensuring alignment with donor requirements and internal standards.
- Coordinate inputs from technical, finance, and support teams to produce high-quality submissions.
- Support the creation of tools and templates to streamline proposal development.
- Collaborate with HQ to ensure timely and compliant submissions.
Grants Management & Programme Support
- Oversee grant tracking systems, reporting schedules, and donor communications.
- Monitor budget forecasts and spending in coordination with Finance.
- Ensure timely, high-quality donor reports and documentation.
- Promote inclusion of gender equality, social inclusion (GESI), and protection in reporting and programme reviews.
Donor Engagement & Communications
- Support donor relationship management and represent GOAL in meetings with donors, clusters, and partners.
- Ensure donor visibility and branding requirements are met in collaboration with the Communications team.
Compliance & Coordination
- Liaise with donors on grant-related matters and support agreement reviews.
- Work with Compliance and HQ to ensure adherence to donor regulations.
Capacity Building & Mentorship
- Deliver training on proposal writing and reporting for staff and partners.
- Support professional development within the Grants team.
What You Bring
- 5+ years’ experience in grants management and proposal development in humanitarian settings.
- Strong knowledge of donor regulations (e.g., BHA, ECHO, FCDO, UN).
- Proven success in securing donor funding and managing complex grants.
- Excellent writing, coordination, and communication skills.
- Fluent in English; Arabic is an asset.
- Willingness to travel within Syria and the region.
