Fatima (55) fled her home in Aleppo to escape constant bombing and shelling.
“We left everything behind and escaped on foot, walking at night. There were a group of us, all women and children.
When we were passing through a checkpoint, a sniper shot at us. Two bullets struck me. My left hand was severed, and I had to have it amputated. Another woman lost her leg, and a pregnant lady with us was killed.”
Fatima is now living with her sister in a makeshift shelter in Northern Syria. They are among 200,000 vulnerable people receiving a monthly food ration from GOAL.
“I am grateful to Allah and to GOAL that we now have fresh bread and other food to eat. Before you helped us we only had some stale bread. When GOAL staff delivered the food basket, they opened it and counted all the different food items to make sure that we had received everything. We couldn’t believe our eyes.”
